More Simple and Healthy...

Another no cook day!

A fresh salad is perfect for a hot day. It was really refreshing and surprisingly filling!

This was a combination of organic green leaf lettuce, organic ugly tomatoes, black and green olives, avocado, chic peas, cooked chicken, a sprinkle of parmigiano cheese, extra virgin olive oil and organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

The organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar is an addition that I've using a lot lately. I've heard and read about the health benefits many times and decided to finally give it a try.

In my case, I mainly wanted to try it for acid reflux. I started taking 1 tablespoon mixed with some water before every meal (3x a day). I would just douse it down quickly. It is extremely strong! I think it did stop a lot of my acid reflux. However, lately I've been feeling a burning sensation in my chest and esophagus area. I think the tablespoon was too strong with the little bit of water that I was mixing it with. The bottle of Bragg brand suggests 1 to 2 teaspoons mixed with a full glass of water. So I've been following this suggestion for the last couple of days. We'll see what happens. Let me know if you have tried it and and if you have had any success with it.

Mmm - great pic of a summery salad.

I tried the ACV diet for a year and although I did manage to maintain a healthy weight loss (total 50lbs, 1.5lbs a week), I hear too much of ACV may wear down the lining of your stomach. I can't claim this but I stopped to prevent future complications.

I think it has also been suggested that the ACV solution should be sipped over the course of a day (instead of gulping down a glass 3 times a day, which is what I did).

I'm interested in hearing if this works for you, so keep us posted. I too, suffer terrible acid reflux, but have not tried the ACV. I take Nexium, which helps to some extent - but not entirely. :(

Harvey, Congrats on your weight loss! Thanks for the info- I will try to take it in moderation because I don't want to cause other problems...

Anon, I did take Nexium for the first 3 months after I was diagnosed. It did help, but I heard that it isn't good to take it long term. I then started on prescription strength Zantac and continued for a couple of years. It worked for a while but started to decrease in effectiveness slowly. So that's why I'm trying natural cures. I will keep you posted.

I Want to say something about the salad is delicious 'the raw unfiltered apple cider is very strong I only have that twice a week one teaspoon,bambola.

Thanks for the acv link. I think I might try it, my husband has pretty bad allergies and I'm always trying to lose weight, not to mention keeping an eye on my blood pressure.
